Definitive Guide to Image posting on TLP

How to post Pics on TLPLANET.com

Once you have a thread you wish to add a picture to, go to the top of the forum and select  post reply.

Button Right of picture below.

You will then have this.  Now Click the IMG button,

Center of Picture below

Once you have click the IMG button, you will see a popup box like the one below.

In the dialog box above type in the URL to your picture. This is the picture's location on the Internet

Photobucket.com, Postwhore.biz, or your own host like my example. I find it easier to clear the popup box first then paste the link into the box. This avoids accidently having this http://http://.... which would be wrong.

My picture is located at the below URL

The above URL takes you to the picture you wish to share.

Now you have this.

Press the OK buton. You see the below.

The tag lines have been entered for you for your picture.

The above is this line below keyed into your post.

[IMG]HTTP://www.kbtdel.com/tls/images/mybike1s.jpg[/IMG]

Note: The IMG tags can also be lowercase, they must look like the above.

If you have something in text you wish to say, type it out, press your enter key a few times (2) and then link the image as above. This will avoid the image posting over your text.

Click the Submit reply button, at the bottom of your post.

That’s it, you should now see your picture in your post.

NOW you KNOW, but let's say you want to click for bigun's Read on.

CLICK FOR BIGUNS.

This is simple and can be done several ways, if you are familiar with resizing images, you are set. If not you need to fire up a graphics program and fiddle a bit.

I use WinXP and the process is easy as pie.

If you are, using WinXp there is this very handy dandy resizer tool, available from Microsoft. (It only works with WinXP) It’s called Image Resizer.

Just go to http://www.microsoft.com and search for Powertoys or click the linkie below.

Microsoft PowerToys

When the links come up download Image Resizer and install it. Then simply right click any picture and choose resize image. The program will give you a few options 640x 480 800x 600 1024 x768 etc or custom

Then rename the image because XP puts in ( ) alot and TLP Vb code does not like ( ) in a file name.

Example you want to resize a file image call mybike.jpg. When you do it the resizer tool generates a file called mybike(small).jpg depending on which option you choose. 640x480 =x(small).jpg 800 x 600 = x(medium).jpg and 1048x468 = x(large).jpg) custom = x(custom).jpg Where X= filename

One you have resize you images using a graphics program or the Image Resizer program, you need to host them on the Internet somewhere.

CrashTD a member on TLP, has his own site for this purpose. He also has IMG tags created automatically for you which makes my document obsolete. It's a no brainer using his site.

His site is Postwhore.biz or you could use PhotoBucket.com or any other hosting site.

To continue our tutorial...
TLP uses VB code so the above name will not work and you should right click and choose rename file to mybike1.jpg or what ever you choose.

The above program makes posting something like this a snap.

The above picture is the below text on TLP

[URL=http://www.kbtdel.com/images/tls/tlspics/images/DSC00001_jpg.jpg][img]http://www.kbtdel.com/images/tls/tlspics/thumbnails/DSC00001_jpg.jpg[/img][/URL]

The first URL defines the location of the large image, the Location of the second image is defined between the IMG tag lines above

To do the above you need three things a place on the Internet to store images and then two images, a small image, and a large image. Then you use the VB code as describe and reference the location of each image..

You should now be able to link from small thumbnail image to a larger image. They can be the same or different.

DRZDoug coin this as Click for BIGUNS

Other links that may help or in the Picture Forum on TLP. All of this is really very simple and easy once you have done it at least once.
